Overview
Seon is an independent travel guide to Korean temples. This page explains what the site processes when you use it, why, for how long, and how you can exercise your rights.
Seon has no accounts, sign-up forms, cookies, analytics or advertising scripts, and it does not store anything on your device. We do not collect your name, email address or other details that identify you, unless you choose to email us (see Contacting us).
Your location
Your browser shares your location with the page only when you tap "Show temples near me" on the temple map, or on a temple page if you have already allowed location access for this site.
The location is used in your browser to calculate straight-line distances and is not stored or sent to us.
Services your browser connects to
Map tiles on the temple map come from OpenFreeMap. Your browser sends it your IP address and the map area being shown, which can reflect your approximate location if you used "Show temples near me".
Temple photos load from Wikimedia Commons, which receives your IP address when your browser downloads them.
Seon is served by Cloudflare. Like any website, Cloudflare processes standard access logs, such as IP address, time and the page requested, to deliver and protect the site. Seon does not keep its own access logs.
These services handle data under their own policies.
Contacting us
If you email the contact address on this page, Cloudflare Email Routing forwards your message to the operator's Gmail (Google) inbox. We receive your email address, your name if you include it, what you write and when it was sent.
We use them only to reply to you and to correct temple information, and do not add you to any mailing list. We delete them within one year after we have replied or finished the correction.
Reporting an error
The "Report an error" link on temple pages opens Seon's error report form on Google Forms. The link fills in the temple ID and the page address for you.
The form asks for a category and a description, and does not ask for your name or contact details. Seon uses what you submit only to correct temple information. We delete them within one year after we have replied or finished the correction.
Who handles it for us, and where
Seon does not give your personal information to anyone else. It relies on the companies below to handle it, and their servers are outside Korea.
Cloudflare, Inc. (United States; privacyquestions@cloudflare.com) hosts the site and forwards emails sent to the contact address. It receives access logs (IP address, time, page requested) when you visit the site, and your email when you send one, over the network at that moment. It processes them in the United States and other countries where it has data centers, to deliver the site and the email, and keeps them under its own retention rules.
Google LLC (United States; contact via support.google.com/policies) stores emails forwarded to the operator's Gmail inbox and responses to the error report form. It receives them over the network when the email is forwarded or the form is submitted, and stores them in the United States and other countries where it has data centers until we delete them as described above.
Legal basis: these transfers are entrusted processing and storage needed to receive and answer your message, disclosed in this policy under Article 28-8(1)(3)(a) of the Korean Personal Information Protection Act.
If you do not want this, do not email us or submit the form. You can still use the whole site; we just cannot reply to you or use your report.
Deleting information
When the period above ends, we permanently delete the emails from Gmail, including its trash, and the responses from Google Forms. Seon keeps no paper records, and no law requires us to keep this information longer.
Your rights
You can ask us to show, correct or delete your information, or to stop processing it, by emailing contact@seontemples.com. A legal representative can make these requests for you. We will respond without delay and within the time limits set by law.
Seon is not intended for children under 14 and does not knowingly collect their information.
Keeping it safe
Only the operator can open the inbox and the form responses, through a Google account protected by 2-step verification.
Cookies
Seon does not use cookies or similar technologies that store or read information on your device.
Privacy officer
Seon is run by one person, who is responsible for privacy and for handling complaints: Seon operator, contact@seontemples.com.
Getting help
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact these Korean public bodies: the Personal Information Dispute Mediation Committee (1833-6972, www.kopico.go.kr), the Personal Information Infringement Report Center (118, privacy.kisa.or.kr), the Supreme Prosecutors' Office (1301) and the Korean National Police Agency (182).

We will update this page before adding anything that processes more information, such as analytics, advertising or sign-in.
